DIAMONDS AND AMPHORAS

1981 - 1982

Earlier paintings from the 1980’s, more like weaving, established my commitment to composing with the grid. The grid is established by bands that wrap around all of the edges of the painting on four sides. You see central diamonds surrounded by vase like shapes. Smaller shapes create direction and movement.  These paintings move outward from the picture plane into the space with the viewer.
